Resolve “ Cannot copy [file] error” in Kodak Z915

Kodak camera models are one of the most widely used camera models available in the market. Kodak Z915 is one of the full featured camera model from Kodak. It consists of 10 mega pixel camera with 10x optical zoom, 2.5 inch screen and is known for delivering quality images. The camera is compatible with SD or SDHC card to store images and videos in it. Though these cards are reliable and secure storage medium but corruption of cards may result in error messages that in turns leads to inaccessibility of data. Users may encounter “ Cannot copy [file] error” in Kodak Z915 while transferring images from the camera to the system.

Take a practical example in which you have clicked many images from your Kodak Z915 camera and while you are transferring photo and video files stored on the SD card of the camera , the process fails and displayed the following error messages :

“Cannot copy [file]: The directory or file cannot be created.”

The possible cause for the above error messages may be that SD card used in the camera contains maximum number of files stored in it. Also in FAT 16 formatted SD card can have only 512 number of maximum entries in it. Also the files having longer file names cannot be saved.

Resolution:

You may try following measures to solve “ Cannot copy [file] error” in Kodak Z915:

  • Create a new sub directory and copy all the files in it.
  • Longer file names should not be used.
  • If the problem still exists than reformatting the SD card may solve the error.

But after reformatting the card you have to deal with another issue as it deletes all the previously stored images on the card. The lost data can be easily restored from updated backup but in the case backup of data is not available you may use Memory card recovery software to restore lost, corrupted or formatted photos from the memory card in almost all data loss situations.
